Faraday Cups

Faraday cups are used to detect electrons. For an electron scattering research project, I needed a Faraday cup that fit inside of the vacuum chamber we were using for the research that was small enough to fit in the chamber and electrically isolated. The iterative development process resulted in a functioning Faraday cup that met all of our needs.

Skills Developed:

Working through a scientific design problem where technical feasibility is the main goal of the project, detailed prototyping, fully understanding technical needs of a product

My Role:

Secondary research, Faraday cup design, machining, testing, synthesizing results
