Allergy Training Service

Severe allergies are potentially life threatening, but little is done on college campuses to educate students about what to do in the event of anaphylactic episode. Through my Service Design course and in partnership with Northwestern Medicine, my team developed a service to educate students on how to recognize anaphylaxis and how to use an epipen.

We worked through the design process, starting by talking to students with allergies, their parents, allergy specialists, and students who know nothing about severe allergies. We found that students are overwhelmed with information at school, and students with severe allergies are hesitant to teach others about their allergies. We developed prototypes and created a final solution that is ready for implementation.
